Capcom has confirmed every playable character for Street Fighter 6 and there are a couple discrepancies when compared to the leaked roster.
During Tokyo Game Show, Capcom announced four more playable characters for Street Fighter 6 – Ken, Dhalsim, Blanka, and E. Honda.
Surprisingly, it hasn’t stopped there. More recently, it uploaded the opening cinematic for its single player World Tour Mode. While it doesn’t show any gameplay, it has casually revealed the entire roster for the game.
Seven more fighters are now confirmed for the game. Three of them – Cammy, Zangief, and Dee Jay – are returning from previous entries, with the remaining four being all new characters – Manon, Marisa, Lily, and JP.
This means Street Fighter 6 will launch with 18 characters in total, making it just slightly bigger than Street Fighter 5’s launch roster.
There are still plenty of questions regarding how the new characters play and what their personalities are like, but it’s shocking to see Capcom just reveal the whole roster in one fell swoop.
Then again, fans already knew who would be included thanks to a major leak back in June; one Capcom publicly acknowledged.
That said, there are some curious discrepancies between the confirmed roster and the one that was leaked.
First of all, the leak listed 22 fighters, not 18. The ones missing from the official roster are three returning characters – Akuma, Ed, and Rashid – and a brand-new one called A.K.I.
Their absence may mean that Capcom is saving them for post-launch DLC, something it’s yet to talk about.
Secondly, one of the new characters confirmed by Capcom is called Manon, but their name wasn’t included in the leak. In their place is the name Mimi.
The most likely explanation for this is that Manon and Mimi are one and the same, and Capcom simply changed their name partway through development.
Or maybe she’s called Manon in the West and Mimi in Japan. It wouldn’t be the first time Capcom changed character names for the Western release of a game.
For example, Street Fighter villains M. Bison, Vega, and Balrog had their names swapped round when the games were localised.
Street Fighter 6 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2023.
