You can breed almost any of the magical beasts you capture in Hogwarts Legacy for an infinite supply of useful materials.

There are tons of side quests you can go on in Hogwarts Legacy, that’ll teach you all about life in the Wizarding World and offer a change of pace from the main story missions.

After you’ve unlocked the Room of Requirement, and made some further progress in Hogwarts Legacy, you may get a side quest from house elf Deek that has to do with beast breeding.

Once you complete the quest, called Foal of the Dead, you’ll be able to breed beasts in the game, whether it’s to set up your very own animal haven, collect resources, or sell them for a profit.

You can find and capture many beasts in the wild, which you can then release into one of your four Vivariums, accessible through the Room of Requirement.

When you step into a Vivarium, you can access the beast menu and add up to four different species to it, for a total of 12 creatures in each.

For the creatures to breed, you’ll need to ensure you have both a male and a female from the same species and then lead them inside the breeding pen (you’ll get one during the Foal of the Dead quest).

The process will take 30 minutes of gameplay and will result in their offspring being added to your Vivarium.

Breeding also comes with a decent chance of hatching a shiny beast, which is denoted by a sparkle symbol by its name.

All magical beasts that you can capture and place in your Vivarium are breedable in Hogwarts Legacy, except for one: the phoenix.

This means you can breed anything from rare creatures like unicorns and hippogriffs, to cat-like kneazles, if you prefer tamer and cuter companions.

You can even rescue and breed your own nifflers, just like famous Magizoologist Newt Scamander.

Breeding every type of beast in Hogwarts Legacy will unlock you a special gaming trophy, called The Nature Of The Beast – a perfect challenge for budding trophy hunters to take up.

Can you sell your beasts in Hogwarts Legacy?

If you end up with an excess of beasts in your Vivariums, or you nab-sack, you can always make your way to the Brood & Peck, which is a beast shop in Hogsmeade.

There you can start selling your creatures for at least a few hundred Galleons, if you’re looking for a quick profit. Sadly, shiny beasts don’t sell for more money than regular beasts.

The shop also sells various animal parts and other products of animal origin that you can use to upgrade your gear, such as unicorn hair or kneazle fur.
